At Cabbage Hill Fertilizer Co., it is our mission to create a line of fertilizers that utilizes plants instead of animals.

As of now, legally, I can only use fertilizer inputs pre-approved by each U.S. state’s department of agriculture. These inputs are the byproducts of Big Ag and therefore include corn, soy, alfalfa etc. We also can use seaweed, neem seed and mined ingredients, like rock phosphate and langbeinite available.

Using these approved inputs, I have a created a line of 8 veganic garden fertilizer formulas that are ready for purchase now. In addition to offering this veganic alternative, I would like to research and test entirely new sources of plant nutrition that are not linked to animal agriculture and are not currently allowed as fertilizer inputs.

These same plants that make great fertilizer are also of great benefit to the soil and ecosystem they are growing in. That’s sustainability that makes common sense. Once we have grown, prepared and tested the best plant-based inputs, I want to use the Dept of Ag’s Organic Input Material (OIM) licensing system to introduce these new plant-based inputs into the public realm as a legal and viable, sustainable, organic animal-free alternative.
